Howdy world. We thought we should start a blog, so we can tell folks about occasional pieces of news, and generally inspire the world with confidence that something is actually happening... The last few weeks have been rather exciting! After several months of beavering away on developing the software - led by Alastair, but with the actual work being done by Guillaume Chereau in Taiwan - and a few early demos to ROE staff and at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, we went public. We had a demonstration at the National Astronomy Meeting, issued an associated press release, set up this web page, and started up our crowdfunder page. (Its called starsight-vr rather than starsightvr - don't ask...)
Our original grant money (thank you STFC) has run out, which is why we are fund-raising. It will take a fair bit more work to make a final stable release version of the software with all the features we want. However, we do intend to sometime soon to release a "user beware" trial version, and do a trial show run, so we can get some feedback from punters. Then the blog will especially useful we hope, and we will also set up a discussion forum.
When we do, treat us gently!
